On April 22, we celebrate Earth Day as an annual reminder to honor our planet’s beauty while raising public awareness about environmental protection and preservation. At DirtMatch, we’re pledging to do our part to make a cleaner, more sustainable future for our planet.

According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), the world needs to reduce global greenhouse gas emissions by 45% in order to avert the worst impacts of climate change. The heavy-duty transportation industry makes up some of the highest percentage of greenhouse gas emissions of any industry, making it critical for companies and customers in our industry to make a meaningful change.

We launched DirtMatch while experiencing first hand the harmful environmental impacts that the construction, hauling, and excavation industries are having on our planet. Our goal is to make finding where to dump dirt easy and affordable by matching your dirt with others in your area who need it. Our matching service allows users to exchange dirt with other users nearby, significantly shortening the distance that most trucking and hauling companies need to travel for dirt exchanges. Especially for large construction sites, these shorter hauling distances means substantially lower carbon emissions and fossil fuel expenditures.

DirtMatch also reduces the need for construction professionals to rely on landfills for dumping their excess organic materials. Instead, we match a user’s excess dirt with someone locally who needs that dirt. This not only lowers our industry’s landfill contribution, but incentivizes our industry stakeholders to instead recycle that dirt for other purposes.

On April 22 and everyday, the DirtMatch team strives to provide the best dirt marketplace available, helping to reduce our industry’s negative impact on our environment.  Thanks for using DirtMatch and for doing your part to keep our planet clean and healthy!
